Mauricio Chacon

Mauricio Chacon has extensive experience in sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, and economic promotion across various organizations. Currently serving as Coordinador de país for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, Chacon leads the Programa Biodiversidad y Negocios en Centroamérica y República Dominicana (daBIO II). Mauricio has worked as a freelance consultant focusing on sustainable territorial development, value chain promotion, and bioeconomy with GITEC-IGIP GmbH, and held positions such as Jefe de Equipo de Asistencia Técnica Internacional for the BIOECONOMIA program and consultant for the Programa Corredores Biológicos in Costa Rica. Further contributions include fostering quality management in value chains at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and short-term consultancy at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. Prior roles include National Coordinator in the El Salvador Office of GIZ and various consultative positions within the Ministry of Environment and Resources in El Salvador and the European Union. Chacon holds a degree in engineering from Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador.
