Joe Unterreiner has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Joe is currently the Vice President, Business Development Officer at Glacier Bank since January 2021. Prior to this, they served as the President and CEO of Kalispell Chamber of Commerce from 1996 to 2020. Joe also worked as an Account Executive at San Marino Mortgage Corporation from 1992 to 1996. From 1985 to 1991, they were a Retail Leasing Manager at Real Estate Development Firms, specifically at Maguire Thomas Partners. Additionally, they owned and operated a Specialty Retail Clothing Franchise with four stores in the Los Angeles area from 1985 to 1990. Before that, they held roles at various government organizations including the U.S. Department of State, Executive Office of the President, and Federal Home Loan Bank Board. Joe started their career as a Graduate Intern at the University of Southern California, where they worked with the Port of Los Angeles, California Department of Economic and Business Development, and City of Los Angeles.

Joe Unterreiner has a strong education background in public policy and administration. Joe earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs (BS) from the University of Southern California's Price School of Public Policy, graduating in 1979. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in 1980.

In addition to their academic achievements, Joe Unterreiner has also obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 1985, they became a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of California. In the year 2000, they graduated from the Institute for Organization Management (IOM), an achievement offered by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Then, in 2006, they became a Certified Chamber Executive (CCE), a qualification bestowed by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. Lastly, in 2010, they received the Ford Foundation Fellowship for Regional Development, sponsored by the Ford Foundation.
