Val Plasencia

Val Plasencia is the Head of Sales Operations & Entertainment at Glean. Prior to joining Glean, Val was the Senior Manager, Real Estate Experience & Sales at Better.com. Val has also worked with the Vera Institute of Justice as a John Jay Vera Fellow ('15-'16).

As a John Jay Vera Fellow, Val had the opportunity to develop a syllabus and conduct a seminar on “Implicit Bias and Microaggressions”. The seminar highlighted the subtle ways that language and behaviors in current social spaces reflect deeply-embedded and unchecked institutional biases and how we can still be taught to recognize them to ensure that societal harm, intentional or otherwise, can be mitigated.

Val is passionate about social justice and ensuring that everyone has access to opportunities. In their role at Glean, Val is responsible for leading the sales team and developing strategies to grow the company. Val is also responsible for overseeing the entertainment division at Glean.

Val Plasencia has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from John Jay College (CUNY) and a Certificate in Data Science for Business from Harvard Business School Online. Val has also completed the New York State Real Estate Salesperson Course in 2019 from the New York Real Estate Institute. Val is certified by the NYS Department of State as a Real Estate Sales Associate.
