Mark McWhirter

Mark McWhirter has a diverse work experience spanning across various roles and industries. Mark is currently working as a Lead Platform / DevOps Engineer at Glean since May 2020. Prior to that, they were the Pizzaiolo / Owner at Meanwood Pizza Co from July 2020.

Mark has also worked at Tesco Mobile as a Senior DevOps Engineer from September 2018 to May 2020. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining and patching Kubernetes clusters, resolving production incidents, and leading a team of engineers. Mark also worked as a Relationship Manager at Tesco Mobile from November 2017 to September 2018, where they managed key suppliers and internal relationships for the delivery of systems and services.

Before joining Tesco Mobile, Mark was the Managing Director of Concept96 LTD, a start-up they created in 2014. This was a part-time hobby focused on developing mobile and web applications. Mark held this position until July 2018.

Mark's earlier experience includes working at O2 (Telefónica UK) as a Service Manager from April 2016 to November 2017. In this role, they were accountable for the services used by O2 Retail stores. Mark also worked as a Higher Apprentice - Operations at O2 from September 2013 to April 2016, gaining experience in various service management placements.

Their work experience also includes being an Online Manager at Chaine FM from August 2009 to December 2015. In this role, they ensured the social reputation of Chaine FM remained intact and developed applications to attract more listeners.

Mark McWhirter completed their education at The Open University from 2013 to 2017, earning a degree in Business Management with Computing with a focus on Computer Science. Prior to that, they attended Larne Grammar School from 2006 to 2013, where they completed their GCSE and A Level studies. In addition to their formal education, Mark has obtained certifications such as the Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the CKA: Certified Kubernetes Administrator from The Linux Foundation in February 2021.
