Kai Johansen

Kai Johansen is an experienced professional in the field of materials science and operational excellence, currently serving as the Director of Operational Excellence at Glencore Nikkelverk AS since August 2013, focusing on the implementation and development of the Nikkelverk Business System and plant strategy development. Previously, Kai held the position of Chief Executive Officer at TEGma AS from August 2011 to July 2013, where the role involved establishing a start-up for SCATEC AS and developing thermoelectric materials for various applications. Earlier experience includes serving as Vice President Technology at REC, contributing to the advancement of high purity silicon processing for the solar industry, as well as holding multiple research leadership roles at Elkem ASA from 1998 to 2009, where responsibilities included overseeing corporate R&D efforts and strengthening research capabilities across various materials and processes. Kai Johansen earned a PhD in Materials Science from Ruhr University Bochum between 1995 and 1998.
