John Holland is the Chief Technology Risk Officer and an Executive Vice President (EVP) at PNC Bank. Based in Pittsburgh, John leads the Independent Technology Risk Management (ITRM) function reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). His role is to help ensure oversight over PNC’s technology-related risk profile and ensure it is managed within the firm’s defined risk appetite. John’s duties include running PNC’s second line of defense for technology risk management, as well as leading the governance and monitoring frameworks.
John was the former Chief Information Security Officer for Credit Suisse. Based in New York, he set the strategy and execution of the Technology Risk Management program with the goal of protecting and safeguarding Credit Suisse’s information assets while enabling technology advancements and aligning with its business strategies. John joined Credit Suisse First Boston in April 1997 in the London office, relocating to the New York office in April 2001. Prior to his current position, he held a number of risk management roles including Head of IT Risk Americas and Head of Business Continuity Management in the Americas.
John also has 20 years of experience in the financial sector in Technology Risk, Information Security and Cyber Security, Infrastructure Technology and Business Continuity. John has executed Technology Risk Management programs globally, led crisis and security incident plans, and worked with regulators including FRBNY, SEC, FSA, FINMA, and MAS. He plays an active role in the industry, particularly with the Financial Sector Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (FS ISAC) and completed a two-year post as a board member of the FS ISAC. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Portsmouth. and also sits on the advisory board for Bluecoat Systems.
