Andreas Weichert

Andreas Weichert serves as the Executive Director at Global Affairs Canada since August 2023. With extensive experience within the Government of Canada since January 1995, Andreas has held various significant roles, including Minister-Counsellor (Commercial-Economic) at the Embassy of Canada to Germany from August 2018 to August 2023, where leadership encompassed overseeing international business development and managing a team of thirty-two trade commissioners. Previous positions include Executive Director of the International Education Division, Senior Trade Commissioner, and Director of Strategic Trade Planning and Performance Management. Andreas holds an MBA from UBC Sauder School of Business and a BComm in Finance from the same institution, alongside education from WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business), Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Camosun College.
