Catherine Potvin is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in environmental and climate policy, currently serving as Deputy Director, Environment & Climate at Global Affairs Canada since April 2021. Previously, Catherine held various roles at Global Affairs Canada, including Acting Director of the Environment Division and Senior Advisor on Climate Finance, focusing on gender-smart climate financing initiatives. Prior to this, Catherine worked at the Department for Women and Gender Equality as a Senior Program Officer and held senior analyst and advisory roles at Affaires étrangères, Commerce et Développement Canada. Catherine’s early career included positions at CIRAD, Dell, and various organizations where responsibilities ranged from legal advisory on intellectual property rights to project management. Catherine holds multiple degrees, including an L.L.B. from Université de Montréal and a Master's in Intellectual Property Law from University of Montpellier.
