Gregory Galligan

Gregory Galligan is a seasoned diplomat and executive within Global Affairs Canada, currently serving as Executive Director for Middle East Relations since December 2014. Their extensive experience includes key roles such as Ambassador of Canada to Iraq and Executive Coordinator for Syria, where Gregory manages Canada’s engagement in various aspects of the Syrian conflict. Gregory has a robust background in foreign affairs communications, having overseen strategic communications for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and handling high-profile issues including the NAFTA renegotiations and G7 events. Gregory has previously held significant positions related to Iran and Iraq, as well as serving in the U.S. Department of State and at the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team. Gregory holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from King's College London and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies and History from Queen's University.
