Serena Ko

Serena Ko is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in trade and defense policy, currently serving as a Trade Commissioner for Global Affairs Canada, focusing on the defence, aerospace, and cybersecurity sectors. Prior roles include Senior Policy Advisor for Defence Trade Policy at the Embassy of Canada to the U.S., where advice was provided on international procurement regulations and market access. Serena has also chaired initiatives aimed at promoting anti-racism within the trade promotion branch, demonstrating leadership and commitment to equity. Previous experience includes managing multilateral engagement initiatives at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and conducting research on East Asia and international law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Serena holds a Master of Laws in International Law with a specialization in Asia-Pacific Law from the University of Hawaii, along with a Bachelor of Laws from Université de Montréal and a certificate in Chinese Law from China University of Political Science and Law.
