Valerie has held various roles in the field of nutrition and food fortification, research, and evaluation at organizations such as FAO and Micronutrient Initiative. Valerie has a PhD in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Montpellier, a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta.
