David Sun Kong

David Sun Kong, Ph.D. has held various roles throughout their career. Since 2017, they have been the Director of the Community Biotechnology Initiative at the MIT Media Lab. David Sun has also served as an Advisor at Bay Bridge Ventures since 2023. Additionally, they have been a Creative Activist Fellow at to.org since 2022. In 2015, they co-founded and served as faculty for How To Grow (Almost) Anything. David Sun has also been an Advisory Board Member for Cambridge University Press: Biotechnology Design since 2022. In 2017, they founded the Global Community Bio Summit. Furthermore, they co-founded The Bridge Program and served as a Mentor for Unlock David Sun'sPotential, both starting in 2021. David Sun also serves as a Science Advisor for Grow Your Own Cloud starting in 2021. Finally, they were a founding team member of #BeatTheVirus starting in 2020.

David Sun Kong, Ph.D. holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering, a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Media Arts and Sciences, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Media Arts and Sciences, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
