Sonia Jorge

Sonia Jorge has extensive experience in the field of telecommunications policy, regulation, and digital inclusion. Sonia is the Founder and Executive Director of the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership, where they lead a coalition of organizations that work towards achieving meaningful internet connectivity for all by 2030. Sonia is also an Advisory Board Member at NIC.br, an organization focused on ICT4D research and development.

Sonia has served as an Independent Board Member at KaiOS Technologies, Inc., and as the Executive Director of the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) from 2013 to 2022. At A4AI, they led global advocacy efforts to reduce broadband internet prices in developing countries and directed the implementation of strategic plans and activities across various areas of work.

Prior to their role at A4AI, Sonia was the A4AI Executive Director and Head of Digital Inclusion at the Web Foundation. In this role, they developed and managed the foundation's Digital Inclusion program, including the Women's Rights Online project. Sonia frequently advised national telecommunications ministries and regulatory authorities in the US on policy initiatives such as privatization and competitive market entry.

Sonia also has a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy with a specialization in Policy and International Economic Development from Tufts University.
