Sarah Bladen

Senior Director, Communications & Partnerships at Global Fishing Watch

Sarah Bladen leads their global communications and fundraising efforts, working with the team to generate public visibility and engagement, secure and maintain funding partnerships, and build an international constituency for greater transparency in fishing and human activity at sea.

Before joining Global Fishing Watch in 2018, Sarah led global communications and marketing for the Marine Stewardship Council where she was responsible for global consumer campaigns, digital and social platform development, media relations and issue management.

Previously, Sarah held various positions with WWF, the global conservation organization; running anti-poaching campaigns in Southeast Asia while based in Vietnam and Thailand and driving global conservation and policy communications from the secretariat in Switzerland.

Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Charles Sturt University in Australia, where she was awarded the Sonya Reece Memorial award for excellence in broadcast journalism. A journalist by trade, Sarah believes in the power of storytelling to inspire change. She is passionate about the ocean and in her spare time she can be found practicing her kayaking skills along the Welsh coast.
