Tyler Clavelle

Data Scientist at Global Fishing Watch

Tyler Clavelle is a data scientist on the Global Fishing Watch Research Team working on the creation and innovation of their datasets and data pipelines. Tyler also supports the director of research in managing the partnerships and activities of their research program. In his role, Tyler employs technical skills to work with large datasets in Python, R and SQL languages, while employing project management skills to coordinate numerous research projects and partnerships.

Tyler holds a bachelor of arts in biology and economics from Bucknell University and a master of science from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Prior to joining Global Fishing Watch in 2019, Tyler spent five years as a researcher with the Sustainable Fisheries Group at UCSB, where he worked on applied and peer-reviewed studies on sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. In his free time, Tyler enjoys running, live music and camping.
