Derek Smith has a diverse background in the maritime industry, starting as a Car Valeter during their studies and eventually moving up to a Master position at GMSL. Throughout their career, Derek has held various roles such as Chief Officer, Solutions Design Manager, and Second Officer in cable installation and repair. Derek also gained experience as a Deck Cadet and Second Officer on European product tankers at P&O Tankships/JT Tankships. Derek received their education from South Tyneside College, Totton College, and Hardley.
