Matt Owen

Matt Owen has over 17 years of experience in marine geology and geophysics. Matt is currently working as a Principal Marine Geologist at Global Maritime. Previously, they worked as a Principal Consultant at MarineSpace Ltd, where they supported offshore wind and cable projects in consenting and pre-construction phases. Prior to that, Matt was a Research Geologist at GEUS, where they worked on various themes including benthic habitats, geo-hazards, and raw materials. Matt also served as a Senior Project Geophysicist at Cathie Associates, providing geophysical and geological consultancy for offshore wind farms and submarine cables. Before starting their consultancy career, Matt was the Director of MAJO Consulting, specializing in marine geophysics and geohazard consultancy. Matt began their career as a Freelance Geophysicist and also gained experience in the retail industry as the Head of Retail at Neals Yard Dairy.

Matt Owen has a strong educational background in environmental geography and science. Matt earned a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Geography from UCL in 1999, followed by a Master's degree in Environmental Science in 2000. Matt then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Morphology and timing of submarine mass movement on the northwest British continental margin, which they completed at UCL in 2013.
