Lydia Sorenson has extensive work experience in project management and leadership roles. Lydia started their career at Westat, Inc. in 1992 as a Data Analyst and Quality Assurance Specialist, where they provided research support and oversaw quality assurance activities. In 1993, they joined ADP/National BioSystems as a Publications and Research Associate, managing grant projects and database development. From 1996 to 1998, Lydia worked at EBR as a Managing Editor, leading communications efforts and managing the publication process. Lydia then joined Electronic Data Systems in 1998 as a Consultant, where they managed web development teams and consulted on various projects. In 1999, Lydia became a Senior Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, balancing program management, marketing, and leadership responsibilities for IT policy and program planning. In 2004, they joined TMC Technologies, Inc. as the Director of Federal Projects, overseeing multiple projects for NOAA, DoD, and NASA. Finally, Lydia worked at GST, Inc. as the Director of the Project Management Office, leading software development and IT operations projects.

Lydia Sorenson completed their B.A. in International Relations at Brigham Young University from 1987 to 1992. Following that, they obtained their M.A. in Policy from The Catholic University of America between 1992 and 1994.
