Rick Levin is an internet executive, academic leader, and board level advisor with over 40 years of experience. Rick’s focus is on innovation, business strategy, and general management of mid to large size companies and institutions, but his experience includes corporate development, business operations, business development, and international relations.
Prior to serving as CEO of Coursera until June 2017, Rick was President of Yale University for a twenty-year term. Rick played an integral role in growing the university’s programs, expanding its resources, building its reputation internationally, investing in the local community, and launching Yale’s foray into online education. Before taking over as President, Rick held leadership roles in teaching, research, and administration at the university.
Rick serves on a variety of public service, corporate, advisory and non-profit boards. He also served on the boards of President George Bush’s Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the U.S. Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction, President Obama’s Council of Advisors for Science and Technology, and co-founded the World Economic Forum’s Global University Leaders Forum.
