Robert Lim

Robert Lim, MD, FACS, FASMBS has a diverse work experience in the field of medicine. Currently, they are the Vice Chair of Education at Atrium Health and Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Robert is also a Professor at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine-Tulsa, where they serve as the Vice-Chair of Education and Residency Program Director. Dr. Lim has been an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences since 2013. Robert has extensive experience in the military, having served as Chief of Metabolic Surgery and General Surgeon in the United States Army Medical Corps and the United States Army, respectively. Dr. Lim is actively involved in professional organizations, holding various leadership roles in SAGES, Excelsior Surgical Society, and the SAGES Clinical World Congress for Endoscopic Surgery. Robert is also the Vice President of the Global Surgical and Medical Support Group, a non-profit organization that provides surgical care, medical care, and combat/disaster response training in challenging environments all over the world.

Dr. Robert Lim completed their high school education at Phillips Exeter Academy from 1985 to 1987. Robert then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine and Studio Arts at Davidson College from 1987 to 1991. Dr. Lim continued their education at New York Medical College, where they obtained their MD degree in Medicine from 1992 to 1996. Robert further enhanced their skills and knowledge by completing a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Harvard Medical School in 2009. In addition to their education, Dr. Lim has obtained various certifications, including a Focus Practice Designation in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery from the American Board of Surgery, as well as fellowships from the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Robert has also completed certifications in the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery, Fundamentals of Use of Surgical Electricity, and Robotic Surgery.
