Global Water Partnership
Valentin Aich is a Senior Water and Climate Specialist at Global Water Partnership since October 2020, with extensive experience in climate research and environmental adaptation. Prior to this role, Aich served as a Guest Scientist at the PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, focusing on hydroclimatic extremes and climate impacts, and completed a PhD in Hydrology and Climatology there. Aich has also held positions as an Associate Scientific Officer at the World Meteorological Organization, addressing global climate observing systems, and as a Climate Change Adaptation Specialist for the UN Environment Programme, where Aich led climate capacity building in Afghanistan. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Hydrology from the University of Potsdam and a Diploma in Geography and a Magister Artium in History from The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg.
