Nicholas Sergeant

Vice President - Aerospace & Defense - Critical Infrastructure Business Line at GlobalFoundries

Nicholas Sergeant began their career as a Summer Intern at IMEC in 2006. Nicholas later worked as a Visiting Scholar at IMEC in 2010, focusing on silver-based multilayer transparent conductors and their application to thin-film organic solar cells. In 2011, they served as a Summer Associate at McKinsey&Company. From 2012 to 2020, Nicholas worked at McKinsey & Company, starting as an Associate and progressing to Engagement Manager and then Associate Partner. In 2020, they joined GlobalFoundries as Vice President of Investment Strategy & Planning. Nicholas then transitioned to the role of Vice President of Business Strategy & Planning in 2022 and currently holds the position of Vice President of Aerospace & Defense - Critical Infrastructure Business Line, responsible for partnerships, sales, revenue management, business development, and product definition to serve the defense industrial base. Throughout their career, Nicholas has also held a research assistant position at Stanford University from 2007 to 2012.

Nicholas Sergeant holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, which they obtained from 2007 to 2012. In addition, they earned a Certificate in Stanford Ignite: Powering Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2010. Before that, they completed an MSc in Engineering Nanotechnology at Chalmers University of Technology from 2005 to 2007, and another MSc in Engineering Nanotechnology from KU Leuven from 2002 to 2007. Their education journey began with a high school degree in Greek-Mathematics from Sint-Pieters College Leuven, which they completed from 1996 to 2002.
