Dermot Herlihy

Dermot Herlihy has extensive work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Dermot is currently working as the Director of Engineering at Glofox since 2020. Prior to that, they held the position of Software Development Manager and Technical Team Lead at Poppulo from 2016 to 2020, where they led teams in delivering solutions on a microservice architecture using Java, Scala, and other technologies.

Herlihy also worked as a Platform Team Lead at Hive, a British Gas Innovation, from 2015 to 2016, where they developed RESTful APIs for the company's IoT platform. Dermot has experience in payment, risk, and KYC modules as well, having worked as a Member Workstream Team Lead and Payments, Risk, and KYC Team Lead at Gamesys from 2010 to 2015.

Additionally, Herlihy worked as a Senior Java Developer at Varistic Ltd from 2009 to 2010, focusing on HR and financial software development within a cloud computing environment. Dermot started their career as a Java Developer at AIB in 2005 and also had a student placement at Fexco Ireland in 2004.

Throughout their career, Herlihy has gained expertise in various technologies such as Java, Spring, Kafka, REST, and more.

Dermot Herlihy earned a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Applications from Munster Technological University from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they attended Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra from 1996 to 2001 where they completed their Leaving Certificate. Dermot has also obtained additional certifications including Certified Scrumaster, Functional Programming Principles in Scala from Coursera, and Sun Certified Java 1.5 Developer from Sun Microsystems.
