Michael Guzman-Tough

Michael Guzman-Tough is currently the Tax Director at Glossier, a position they have held since October 2019. Prior to joining Glossier, they were Senior Manager, Tax Accounting at UiPath from June 2019 to October 2019. Before that, they were Vice President, Tax at Moelis & Company from July 2016 to June 2019.

Michael's experience includes improving the management of outside service providers to ensure the streamlined and timely delivery of federal and state tax returns with increased analytical review. Michael has also liaised with finance and accounting teams to implement improvements to processes on which tax is dependent for information, including a complete overhaul of a tax-sensitive chart of accounts. In addition, they have evaluated tax software solutions to manage tax provision processes and tax compliance along with international tax planning.

At Moelis & Company, Michael was responsible for the interim and annual tax provision, ensuring that tax balances were properly reported under ASC 740 in the financial statements and had appropriate support and that disclosure requirements were met. Michael also achieved greater efficiency and control around the tax provision process by building a more comprehensive model with key schedules and calculations to address multitude of deliverables. Additionally, they successfully managed outsourced tax compliance to timely meet all statutory deadlines for federal and state corporate and partnership filings, sales and use tax filings, and local foreign tax filings while also creating an all-inclusive tax calendar to ensure all filing obligations were met.

In addition to their responsibilities at Moelis & Company, Michael also oversaw the local tax function in several foreign jurisdictions, with a particular focus on Brazil, India, and EMEA. Michael's responsibilities in these roles included ensuring that material issues were raised timely, minimizing foreign tax exposure, and working with local advisors to comply with local tax requirements.

Simultaneously managing and advancing four separate audits to a favorable conclusion is one of Michael's notable accomplishments. Michael's experience with complex financial issues and their ability to streamline processes have made him an invaluable asset to any organization.

Michael Guzman-Tough has a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Georgetown University and a Master's Degree in Accounting and Taxation from the University of Hartford. Michael also attended high school at The Taft School.
