Jay Searles

Jay Searles is the current Director of Finance at Glowforge. Prior to this, they spent 3 years and 11 months at the company in various finance and accounting roles, including Sr. Director Finance & Accounting and Director of Finance.

During their time at Glowforge, Jay has been responsible for leading the accounting, finance, and budgeting processes for the company. Jay has also assisted in revenue growth and employee growth, and has developed the accounting, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the company. Additionally, they have led all accounting and finance functions for the company, including general accounting, revenue recognition, budgeting and forecasting, month-end close, financial statement preparation, tax compliance, SaaS and operational metric calculation and analysis, treasury, payroll, commission for 100+ sales representatives, expense reporting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

In addition to their work at Glowforge, Jay has also managed the incorporation of a UK subsidiary company as well as all subsidiary accounting and tax compliance according to UK GAAP and tax laws. Jay has also migrated the company from Quickbooks to a mid-sized ERP (Intacct) as well as sponsored and implemented various other financial system applications.

Jay Searles attended Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business from 2004-2008, completing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Searles was also a part of the Ultimate Frisbee team, Leavey Scholars, and National Honor Society while attending the school. In addition to their Accounting degree, Searles also completed a Spanish Studies minor and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Santa Clara University in 2008. Before attending Santa Clara University, Searles graduated from J.K. Mullen High School in 2004 after playing on the soccer and lacrosse teams. Searles is also a Certified Public Accountant from the Board of Accountancy in Washington State.
