Sergio Sgarbi's work experience begins in 1991 at Maxion International, where they held roles as Operations Director in Argentina and Quality Engineer/Manager/Director. In 2004, they served as the Chief Operating Officer at Siemens Diesel Systems Technology, LLC until 2005. Sergio then joined International Truck and Engine as the Plant Manager for the Indianapolis Engine Plant. In 2008, they moved to Navistar Inc as General Manager for Big Bore Engines and later held positions as General Manager for North America Navistar Business and Vice President of Global Engine and Marketing. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Board Member at Magnum Power. After that, they became the President of Fortive - Jacobs Vehicle Systems until 2017. Currently, Sgarbi is the Chief Operating Officer of Gnutti Carlo Group and also serves as the Managing Director for Gnutti Carlo Powertrain Division. Sergio is also the Chairman of the Board for HDBF Europe at Heavy Duty Business Forum.

Sergio Sgarbi has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from FEI, which they completed from 1987 to 1991. Sergio later pursued an MBA in Business/Operations from The University of Sheffield, which they completed from 1996 to 1997. In 2003, Sergio participated in an Executive Education program at the London Business School. In 2012, they attended the Executive Education - Chicago Management Institute program at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Finally, in 2017, Sergio completed an Executive Online Training program in Disruptive Strategy from Harvard Business School Online.
