Brent Akamine

Co-Founder at Quickride

Brent Akamine has a long history of experience in the design and technology industry. In 2009, they began as a Visual Designer at Huge Inc., where they worked on projects for Mattel, Disney (Toontown.com), Flip, Kelly Blue Book, Samsung, and concepts for Star Wars. In 2010, they joined the founding team of Shopnation.com as a Visual Designer, creating concepts for new products, wireframes for features, and visual design mockups. In 2012, they became an Art Director at Meredith Corporation, and in 2013 they were promoted to Senior UI/UX Designer at TrueCar, Inc. In 2014, they were hired as Design Director at Flipagram, where they made it easy for anyone with a phone to create and share compelling visual stories. In 2017, they were hired as Design Director at both ByteDance and Quickride - Shuttle Ride Software, where they were also a Co-Founder. In 2018, they became Design Director at Blockfolio, and in 2021 they were hired as a Fellow at On Deck. Most recently, in 2020, they became Co-Founder of Vinovest, the world's first platform for investing in fine wine.

Brent Akamine attended the University of Southern California from 1999 to 2003, where they earned a BFA in Fine Arts and Digital Media. Prior to that, they attended Punahou School from 1993 to 1999.
