Joy Maloney has worked in the technology field since 1997. Joy began their career as a Technical Manager at Eclipsys, where they supervised four technical analysts and managed technical tasks for North/Central implementation teams. Joy then moved to Marriott International as a Technical Analyst, where they maintained the AIX, HP-UX and NT infrastructure. In 1999, they joined AOL as a Sr. Systems Programmer, where they maintained and enhanced a J2EE-based client access management tool and a Perl-based web application configuration tool. In 2007, they worked as a Software Engineer Staff at Lockheed Martin, providing WebLogic and Tomcat operations and maintenance support in a multi-platform, multi-network environment. Joy then joined Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Software Engineer, participating in the full lifecycle of software development for the STREET program. In 2010, they worked as a Web Software Developer 5 at TASC, leading an Agile Java development team working on a Big Data government contract. In 2016, they served as a School Board Member for Loudoun County Public Schools, successfully implementing universal full-day kindergarten in three years. In 2017, they joined Kajeet as a Software Engineering Lead, leading an Agile team of six developers while also being a hands-on full-stack developer. Joy successfully migrated the customer-facing web application from a Java 5, Struts v1 and Spring v3 legacy application to an Angular frontend with a RESTful backend using the latest Java and Spring Boot while achieving over 80% code coverage. In 2020, they became an Engineering Manager at Goalbook.
Joy Maloney received a B.S. in Secondary Education (Mathematics) from the University of Maryland in 1992. Joy then went on to receive an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Hood College in 1997. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from Brainbench in Spring 4.0 and from Oracle in Sun Certified Java Programmer.
