Tom Whiter has a diverse range of work experience in the media industry. Tom started their career as a Production Office Runner at Kudos Film and Television in 2009. Tom then worked as Head of Music at University Radio Nottingham from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, they worked as a Broadcast Assistant and BBC Introducing Reporter at the BBC. Tom also worked as a Press and PR Assistant at Headway - the brain injury association in 2010. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Producer at Community Channel.

Tom joined the BBC in 2012 and held various roles, including Team Assistant, Unit Assistant, Assistant Producer, and Producer at BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra. Tom worked as a Producer at BBC Radio 1 from 2018 to 2022.

In 2021, Tom became the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Curation at KEAKIE. Tom held these roles until January 2023. In March 2023, they worked as a Creative Consultant at The Radio Department. Currently, Tom is the Head of Content at Goalhanger Podcasts, a position they started in April 2023.

Tom Whiter attended Dame Alice Owen's School from 2000 to 2007, where they earned their A Level in History, English Literature, and Chemistry. Following this, they attended the University of Nottingham from 2007 to 2010, completing their BA (Hons) degree in History.
