Product Manager at GoCardless

Serena Chana has a diverse work experience that spans various roles in product management, marketing, and fundraising. Serena is currently a Product Manager at GoCardless since May 2022. Prior to that, they founded and served as the Head of Product at Desi Minds, an organization focused on mental health education for the South Asian community. Serena also worked as a Product Manager at Wonderbly, an online personalized publisher, from April 2020 to April 2022.

Serena has also been actively involved in freelance work, where they operated as a Professional Speaker, delivering talks on topics such as marketing, product management, and diversity and inclusion. Additionally, they worked as a Marketing/Product Consultant & Writer, helping startups and businesses achieve their goals in product and marketing strategies.

Serena gained early experience in product management as an Associate Product Manager at Lightful, a technology company driving social and environmental change. Serena also worked as a Marketing and Growth Manager at 23 Code Street, a coding school focused on empowering women.

In their earlier career, Serena served as a Marketing and Communications Executive at Digital Mums, a start-up focused on helping mothers create flexible careers. Serena also worked as an Editorial Assistant at Mind Tools, a business training resources provider, and as a Fundraising and Communications Officer at Children on the Edge, a charity organization supporting marginalized children.

Throughout their career, Serena has demonstrated their expertise in driving growth, increasing brand awareness, and delivering innovative product experiences.

Serena Chana completed their education in a variety of fields. Serena attended Worthing High School from 2004 to 2009 and obtained their A Levels in Psychology (A*), Philosophy (B), and English Literature (B) from Worthing College between 2009 and 2011.

In 2011, they enrolled at the University of Southampton and earned a degree in Psychology and Education, completing their studies in 2014. In 2019, they attended a Negotiation and Influence workshop at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

In addition to their formal education, Serena has also obtained several certifications. In November 2018, they completed a Copywriting for Tech workshop at General Assembly. In July 2018, they completed a Web Development Foundation course (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) at 23 Code Street. In October 2017, they participated in a Growth Hacking workshop at General Assembly.

Serena obtained certifications in Inclusion Makers training programme from Utopia in September 2021 and Mental Health First Aider from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England in April 2021.
