David Huang has over a decade of work experience in the medical field. David began their career in 2010 as the Director of Research and Associate Director of Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health & Science University. David also served as the Director of the Center for Ophthalmic Optics & Lasers (COOL Lab) and Professor of Ophthalmology & Biomedical Engineering at the same institution. In 2011, they co-founded and became a board member of GoCheck Kids. In 2019, they were elected President of the International Ocular Circulation Society.
David Huang obtained their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1985. David then pursued a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the same institution from 1987 to 1989. Following this, they attended Harvard Medical School from 1985 to 1993, where they earned their MD. David then returned to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for their PhD in Medical Engineering & Medical Physics, which they completed in 1993.
