Thomas Spain

Thomas Spain, MD, MPH is a physician and healthcare expert with over 10 years of experience in the field. From 2010 to 2017, they worked at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, beginning as an Instructor of Medicine and Pediatrics and eventually becoming an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine. In 2015, they became the Director of Practice Improvement and Transformation at the MidSouth Practice Transformation Network, where they managed a team of expert quality improvement advisors and guided strategic planning. In 2016, they founded WhiteCoat Innovations, LLC, a physician-led clinical innovation firm providing expert advisory services in digital health innovation and healthcare transformation. In 2018, the firm was rebranded as Multiply Health, and Dr. Spain continued to serve as Principal Consultant, helping digital health startups navigate their journey to growth and impact. In 2019, they became a Physician at Welbii and in 2020, they were appointed Chief Operating Officer & Chief Medical Officer, and Acting Chief Operating Officer & Chief Medical Officer at GoCheck Kids, where they also served as Pediatrician-In-Residence. In 2021, they joined Centivo as Medical Director of Clinical Innovation and Virtual Primary Care, and as a Clinical Strategic Advisor. Thomas also served as a Consulting Physician at Innova Primary Care, PC.

Thomas Spain, MD, MPH obtained their Bachelor of Science in Physics from The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Thomas then went on to earn their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, with a field of study in Epidemiology. In 2014, they obtained certifications in General Pediatrics and Internal Medicine from the American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Internal Medicine, respectively.
