Duncan Gibbs is a seasoned professional in the mining and geology sectors, currently serving as the Managing Director and CEO of Gold Road Resources since September 2018. Previously, Gibbs held several key positions at AngloGold Ashanti, including General Manager of the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and General Manager overseeing the start-up, expansion, and optimization of the Tropicana operation. Gibbs also contributed significantly as Vice President of the Tropicana Project during its prefeasibility and feasibility study stages, and served as Exploration Manager, managing activities that led to the discovery of Tropicana. Earlier career experience includes roles as Geology Manager at Acacia Resources and various geological positions at Shell Australia/Billiton. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geology from James Cook University, complemented by ongoing studies at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Gold Road is a mid-tier Australian gold producer and explorer with a Tier 1 mine and exploration projects across Australia. Gold Road was established in 2005 and listed on the ASX in 2006. From start-up, the Company’s focus was on greenfields exploration until the discovery of the Gruyere gold deposit in 2013. In 2016 Gold Road agreed a 50:50 joint venture on the project with Gold Fields Limited. Following the mine development from 2017 to mid-2019, Gold Road now have a 50% non-operating interest in the world-class long-life gold mine, together with its joint venture partner. Gruyere is one of Australia’s largest and lowest-cost gold mining operations with all ore currently sourced from a single open pit mine, and has a current mine life to 2032. The Gruyere JV (Gruyere and Golden Highway Deposits) hosts Open Pit Mineral Resources of 6.69 million ounces, and Ore Reserves of 4.05 million ounces (100% basis). At 31 December 2022, Gold Road‘s attributable Mineral Resources total 4.79 million ounces and attributable Ore Reserves total 2.02 million ounces . Gold Road have 100% owned exploration projects in the underexplored and highly prospective Yamarna Belt that hosts the Gruyere gold deposit, located approximately 1,200 kilometres north-east of Perth and 200 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia’s north-eastern Goldfields. Following the acquisition of DGO Gold in mid-2022 and new exploration tenement applications, Gold Road now has exploration tenements across Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland covering more than 18,000km² Gold Road’s exploration strategy is to deliver new value-adding, economic gold deposits that could be developed as standalone mining operations driving the creation of shareholder value through organic growth.
