Vinny Hammond is a seasoned professional in sports performance and analytics, currently serving as Head of Analytics and Innovation at the Irish Rugby Football Union since September 2008. In addition to this role, Vinny is a High Performance Analyst and holds directorships on the Board of Directors for both Golf Ireland and the International Society of Performance Analysis of Sport, which commenced in March 2021 and January 2021, respectively. Vinny also contributes to academia as a Performance Analysis Lecturer for MSc. courses at University College Dublin since April 2011. Previous experience includes a role as Performance Analyst for The British & Irish Lions and Leinster Rugby, as well as part-time positions at World Rugby. Vinny's educational background includes a PhD in Sports Performance & Analytics from University College Dublin and an MSc in Performance Analysis from Cardiff Metropolitan University, along with a BSc in Sports Management from University College Dublin.

Golf Ireland was established as the National Governing Body for golf on the island of Ireland in January 2021. It will build on over 125 years of tradition and development of its two predecessors, the GUI and the ILGU – the two oldest golfing unions in the world.
