Jacques Pretorius has a diverse work experience in the field of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and data production. Their career began as a Survey Officer at National Geo-Spatial Information (NGI) in 2007, where they were involved in georeferencing topographical maps and capturing metadata.

Jacques Pretorius completed their Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in GIS at Stellenbosch University from 2000 to 2003. In addition, they obtained a certification as a Geomatics Professional from the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC/PLATO) in April 2014.
