Kelly Wentz has a diverse work experience. Kelly began their career as an AC/FAO at the Art Institute of Seattle from 2001 to 2006. Later, they worked as a copy editor and proofreader at Morning Light Press from 2007 to 2008. Kelly then started their own business, KBW Edits, where they worked as an owner, copy editor, and proofreader from 2008 to 2011. During this time, they also worked as a proofreader and keyboarder at Sterling Codifiers from 2011 to 2011. Kelly then transitioned into the field of financial aid at Gonzaga University. Kelly held multiple roles, including Financial Aid Counselor from 2011 to 2016, Senior Financial Aid Counselor from 2016 to 2017, Assistant Director from 2017 to 2022, Associate Director of Student Employment from 2022 to 2023, and currently serves as the Director of Financial Aid since November 2023. Throughout their time at Gonzaga, they have managed funds, awarded scholarships, and implemented policies and procedures.

Kelly Wentz holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University (2013-2016). Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature/Letters from Northwest Nazarene University (1999-2001). Kelly also attended the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (1997-1999) but did not earn a degree. Kelly Wentz is a graduate of Liberty High School.
