Ian McKee has had a diverse work experience in the fields of communications, marketing, and sales. Ian started their career as a Classified Sales Executive at Emap in 2006 and then worked as a Sales Executive at Red Apple Publishing in 2007. Ian then transitioned into the PR and marketing industry, working as a Digital Marketing Executive at McCluskey International from 2007 to 2010. During this time, they gained experience in media relations, particularly in the travel sector, and focused on adding value for clients through social media, SEO, and digital marketing.
In 2010, Ian joined MHP Communications as a Social Media Account Manager, where they looked after social media strategies for clients such as American Express, Yahoo!, and Timex. Ian also worked on traditional media relations, particularly for Yahoo!, helping the brand reach a marketing audience in the UK.
Ian then moved to Wildfire in 2012, where they worked as an Account Director, specializing in working with technology brands and helping the agency develop its digital proposition. Some of their clients included Dotmailer, EPiServer, Farnell element14, and William Hill.
In 2016, Ian joined AgencyUK as the Social and PR Director, leading the social and PR team and working on integrated brand campaigns for clients across various sectors, including Chang Beer, Ladbrokes, Welsh Lamb, and Wentworth Puzzles.
Their most recent role has been at Good Energy, where they have held multiple positions. Ian started as a Communications Manager in November 2017, then became the Senior Communications Manager in June 2019. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Communications, overseeing all external communications, owning editorial channels, and leading on the Good Energy brand. Ian has also been involved in innovative projects, such as conceiving, developing, and co-producing a successful podcast featuring notable guests and leading the Good Future Board, giving young people a voice to hold the company accountable for protecting their futures.
Ian McKee attended St Peter's RC Comprehensive in Merrow, Guildford from 1995 to 2002. Ian then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama, English, and American Literature from the University of Kent, graduating in 2005.
