James Rees has a diverse work experience in the energy industry, holding various roles in different companies. James has worked in companies such as Good Energy, Drax Group, Opus Energy, Logica, and British Gas Business.
At Good Energy, James currently serves as the Director of Product & Propositions, overseeing the product strategy for domestic and business clients. James focuses on digital product innovation, customer experience, user experience, and analytics, while also leading commercial partnerships and proposition development.
Prior to their current role, James was the Head of Product & Propositions at Good Energy, responsible for reviewing strategic projects and ensuring their successful delivery. James assessed business cases, development activities, and market alignment.
At Drax Group, James held the role of Business Transformation Lead, where they led a company-wide transformation project to realign energy retail brands with distinct segments of the B2B market. James also served as the Head of Products & Propositions, leading the department responsible for new product development, in-life product management, and customer value proposition creation.
During their time at Opus Energy, James held various positions, including the Head of Propositions & Channel Strategy, Head of Channel Strategy & Customer Insight, Head of Corporate Commercial, and Product Manager. James oversaw the development of energy and sustainability products, conducted customer research, optimized sales channels, and developed B2B energy trading products and services.
Before joining Drax Group and Opus Energy, James worked as a Senior Business Consultant at Logica, where they led development teams for UK energy retail clients and contributed to the business strategy for the utilities consulting division.
James also has prior experience at British Gas Business, where they held roles such as I&C Pricing Manager, Product Development Analyst, and Account Management Manager.
James Rees received a Bachelor of Technology degree in Photography from North Oxfordshire College and School of Art from 1997 to 1999. Prior to that, they attended Henry Box School from 1992 to 1997, but they did not obtain a degree or specialize in a field of study during that time. In terms of additional certifications, James completed a course in International Management of Risk and Uncertainty at AAA Risk Management Limited in 2010.
