Jan D. Peter

Jan brings over 34 years of financial management and administrative experience to the executive suite. His strengths include the ability to balance expenses in the face of changing volumes and healthcare conditions, maintaining a forward-looking vision for the financial cycle, and developing innovative ways to maximize collections and revenue.

He is a staunch believer in the professional development of his managers and front-line staff, encouraging and supporting continuing education and ensuring that career paths are clear and realistic.

Jan served as the Controller of the Riverview Medical Clinic in Vancouver, Washington during 1983 and 1984, coordinating all fiscal operations and policies, while also serving as treasurer on the clinic’s board of directors. From there, he progressed to Chief Financial Officer at the Mercy Forest Glen Hospital in Canyonville, Oregon from 1984 to 1988. At Mercy, Jan served as administrator of the organization’s health plan in addition to his CFO responsibilities of capital and operating budget management and daily cash management. He also managed operations of the hospital’s business office, including data processing, patient accounts, and credit and collections.

He transitioned to CFO duties at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville, Oregon, serving from 1988-1994. At Pioneer, he honed his skills at reviewing revenues and receivables in order to set and maintain appropriate reserves. Jan kept a close eye on departmental budgets, coaching managers on planning and contingency management. He also managed the hospital’s purchasing department. Jan then served as Patient Financial Services Director at Tillamook County General Hospital in Tillamook, Oregon from 1994-2002 managing A/R and billing master files, and coordinating with several departments to maximize insurance reimbursement within contract guidelines, as well as developing policies, procedures, and standards to align fiscal operations with the organization’s mission.
