Their career in research began with roles as a Research Assistant at UC Santa Cruz. Cherrylyn worked under Professor Sri Kurniawan in an Assistive Technology Lab from June 2011 to February 2012, conducting interviews, analyzing data, and assisting with studies related to assistive technology for disabled/elderly persons, technology as a motive for teens to exercise, and technology as an informant for new or soon-to-be fathers. Prior to that, Cherrylyn worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Bruce Bridgeman, Ph.D., from August 2010 to June 2011, where they managed participants, input data, and contributed to enhancing the usability of the study.

Cherrylyn Cawit completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Cognitive Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Cherrylyn pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Science degree in Human Factors and Ergonomics from San Jose State University.
