Maddy Shanks

Maddy Shanks has a diverse work experience. In 2021, they began working as a Client Strategy & Insights Analyst for GoodUnited. From 2017-2021, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of South Carolina, where they collected and cleaned data and conducted preliminary analyses for an NSF funded data expansion effort. In 2016, they were a District Office Intern for KY06 at the U.S. House of Representatives, where they assisted with casework and constituent services, participated in fieldwork, and managed contact.

Maddy Shanks is currently a PhD (Candidate, ABD) candidate in Political Science at the University of South Carolina, a position they have held since 2017. In 2020, they attended the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research Summer Program, where they studied Categorical Data Analysis, Game Theory, and Introduction to Python. In 2013, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Political Science from Eastern Kentucky University. In May 2019, they obtained the Preparing Future Faculty Certification from the Council of Graduate Schools, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the Pew Charitable Trust, and the National Science Foundation.
