Shelley Ashley has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Shelley began their career as an Admissions Representative for Spring Arbor University in 1990, where they represented the university to prospective students and coordinated campus visits. Shelley then worked as a Conversational English Teacher at Vécsey Károly Primary School before returning to Spring Arbor University as an Assistant Director of Admissions from 1994 to 1999.
In 2000, Shelley joined SAIC as an Open Source Analyst, where they analyzed information from various internet sources and prepared confidential reports for clients. Shelley continued in this role until 2004 when they transitioned to a Training & Development Assistant position at Free Methodist World Missions, where they assisted with training programs for new missionaries.
From 2007 to 2010, Shelley worked at Marian's Adult Programs, Marian University, initially as an Enrollment Advisor and later as an Academic Advisor. In these roles, they advised students on course selection, degree planning, and other academic matters.
Shelley then joined The Excel Center in 2010, serving as a College Transition Counselor and later as a Quality Control Lead. Shelley provided support and leadership across all Excel Centers, implemented various systems and best practices, and conducted Crisis Prevention Training for staff. Additionally, they served as an academic advisor and assisted students in course and post-secondary planning.
In 2015, Shelley took on a new opportunity as the Director of The Excel Center - Decatur, where they provided adults who had dropped out of school the opportunity to earn a high school diploma. Shelley also oversaw the operation of the public charter school.
Since 2015, Shelley has been with Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana, initially as a Senior Director of Goodwill Works and currently as the Vice President of Mission Initiatives. In these roles, they have been responsible for developing service delivery standards and procedures, strategic direction, and placement strategy.
