John Hwang

John Hwang is a Partner at Freeman Spogli. Mr. Hwang joined Freeman Spogli in 2006 and has been responsible for sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, overseeing portfolio companies, serving on a variety of the firms committees, leading the fundraising efforts, managing financing relationships and initiating the firm’s ESG efforts. Freeman Spogli is a prominent Los Angeles-based private equity firm, investing in middle-market consumer and distribution companies for four decades.

Mr. Hwang currently serves on several privately held company boards, working with management teams around strategic direction, growth initiatives, establishing best practices, optimizing capital structures and focusing on corporate governance and accountability.

Prior to joining Freeman Spogli, Mr. Hwang worked at Citigroup in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Financial Sponsors Groups. Mr. Hwang received his bachelor's degree in business economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
