Jacob Barr

Jacob Barr is an experienced software engineer with a background in both software development and education. Barr interned at Microsoft in 2018, where a key contribution included developing the Immersive Reader integration for Microsoft Teams. As a Software Engineer 2 at Microsoft, Barr played a significant role in the re-architecture of the core Chat experience and led initiatives to enhance performance and memory usage. Barr's mentoring efforts have positively impacted the onboarding experience for new hires and interns. Prior experience includes instructing at the University of Michigan, where Barr designed a comprehensive overhaul of a student project, and serving as a Visitor Use Assistant for the National Park Service, managing visitor interactions and fee collection. Barr holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and an Associate's degree in Political Science and Government from Northwestern Michigan College. Currently, Barr is a Software Engineer at Google since August 2022.
