Kirk Haller

Engineering Manager

Kirk Haller is an experienced professional in software development and research, beginning with a role as a Researcher at Dalhousie University from August 1995 to August 1997, where calculus, data structures, and numerical analysis were taught alongside research conducted with Dr. Karl Dilcher. Subsequently, Kirk held the position of Associate Professor in the Computer Graphics Lab at the University of Waterloo, collaborating with Dr. Richard Bartels. From November 1998 to July 2010, Kirk served as Director of Research for North America at SolidWorks Corp., managing a team focused on 3D issues for professionals. Following this, Kirk worked at Industrial Light & Magic from August 2010 to June 2013 as Director of Development, leading internal R&D efforts. Kirk then joined Amazon Web Services as a Senior Development Manager from June 2013 to March 2015, overseeing the development of the Elastic File System. Currently, Kirk is an Engineering Manager at Google, managing YouTube's Live Infrastructure team since June 2015. Kirk holds a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, obtained in 1995.
