Lars Bergstrom, PhD, currently serves as Director of Engineering at Google, overseeing the tooling and library teams for the Android platform, particularly in the areas of Rust, C/C++, and Java. With extensive experience in engineering leadership, Lars previously held senior positions at Mozilla, where contributions included driving virtual and augmented reality initiatives. In addition to roles at Google, Lars is actively involved as a Board Member for RISC-V Software Ecosystem and RISC-V International, and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Rust Foundation. Lars holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Chicago, along with a Master’s from the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s from Northwestern University.
