Mark Paskin

Mark Paskin is an accomplished software engineer with extensive experience in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Paskin's career includes roles at Waymo as a tech lead focused on self-driving cars, Stanford University as a postdoctoral researcher in probabilistic mapping for robotics, and significant contributions at Netflix where a machine learning recommendation system developed under Paskin's guidance became instrumental for the Netflix Prize contest. Paskin has held various positions at Google, initially as a Senior Staff Software Engineer and later working on deep learning for ranking and recommendation. Additional notable experience includes internships at IBM and Intel, where innovative technologies were developed for database optimization and probabilistic reasoning, respectively. Paskin earned a PhD in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) and multiple degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a BA (honors) from Cornell University.
