Matthew Cockrell has extensive experience in engineering, specializing in FPGA design. Beginning an early career with internships at Contra Costa County and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Matthew advanced to a position as an FPGA Design Engineer at Lockheed Martin and later at Sierra Photonics, Inc. Since January 2015, Matthew has been working as a Hardware Engineer at Google. In addition to these roles, Matthew has taken on leadership responsibilities as the Chair of the CHIPS Alliance Governing Board since October 2022. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UC Berkeley, attained between 2006 and 2008.
