Michael Garrett

Michael Garrett is an accomplished records and information management professional with extensive experience across multiple sectors, including energy and government. At NorthWestern Energy, Michael directed records management and legal hold programs, successfully leading the company through its first FERC records audit. Prior roles include serving as a Senior Policy Advisor with McNeil Technologies, managing information governance for the US Department of Education and the Joint IED Defeat Organization. Michael's tenure with the US Navy featured the development of an online management solution that significantly reduced issuance times for classified directives, saving substantial costs. In the role of Records and Information Governance Leader at the US Department of Energy, Michael provided strategic oversight for managing records and scientific data. Currently serving as Lead for Retention Policy at Google, Michael's educational background includes a degree in Classical and Ancient Studies from Hampden-Sydney College.
