Michael Lee is an experienced intellectual property strategist with a diverse background in patent matters and legal counsel. At Google from January 2017 to October 2017, Michael served as the Director and Head of Patents, leading a global team focused on portfolio strategy, patent quality, analytics, licensing, and policy, achieving recognition as one of the world’s leading IP strategists by IAM's Strategy 300. Prior to Google, Michael spent nearly nine years at Cisco Systems, initially as Patent Product Area Lead Counsel for Mobile and then as Senior Director, where responsibilities included strategic patent licensing, policy reform, and IP support for M&A transactions. Michael's earlier experience includes senior legal roles at Yahoo! Inc., Shearman and Sterling, and Fish & Neave LLP, specializing in patent litigation and due diligence. Michael holds a JD from The George Washington University Law School and a BS in Materials Science Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
